Collagen Gel Mask: Jericho Rose Jelly

The Abib Collagen Gel Mask Jericho Rose Jelly  is a cooling hydrogel mask designed for skin that feels dehydrated, irritated, oily or temporarily stressed. It combines Heartleaf extract with niacinamide, humectants and soothing ingredients in a closely adhering gel sheet.

Unlike a conventional fabric sheet mask soaked in serum, the hydrogel sheet is created by solidifying the essence into a soft gel structure. This allows the mask to sit closely against the skin and creates a temporarily occlusive environment that helps reduce water evaporation while the mask is being worn.

Interestingly, niacinamide appears much higher in the ingredient list and is one of the more relevant actives in this formulation. Niacinamide supports epidermal barrier function and can help improve uneven tone, dullness and the appearance of excess surface oil over time.

Hydration is the main strength of the mask

The formulation uses several humectants, including glycerin, Glycereth-26, hydroxyethyl urea, sodium hyaluronate and xylitol, which help attract and retain water within the upper layers of the skin.

This hydration, combined with the occlusive effect of the hydrogel sheet, can temporarily make the skin appear plumper, smoother and more luminous.

The formula also contains kaolin and calamine, ingredients often incorporated into products designed for oily or blemish-prone skin. Kaolin can absorb some excess surface oil, while calamine provides additional skin-soothing properties.

Adenosine and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 complement the skin-smoothing concept of the formulation.

Despite the product name, I would not consider collagen the main active ingredient in this particular mask. The current Korean ingredient information specifies collagen extract at only 0.1 ppm.

The immediate plumping effect of this mask is therefore much more realistically explained by hydrogel occlusion + humectants + increased hydration of the stratum corneum.
