Esfolio Vitamin Brightening Ampoule is the serum I would consider when dullness and dehydration appear together. Its most useful distinction is that it is a niacinamide-focused brightening serum: I would choose it for gradual support for a more even-looking complexion, rather than expecting the effect of a strong vitamin C treatment.

The formula contains 2% niacinamide (20,000 ppm), a well-studied form of vitamin B3. Niacinamide supports the epidermal barrier, helps regulate sebum production and can improve uneven pigmentation by reducing the transfer of melanin-containing melanosomes to epidermal skin cells. With consistent use, this can contribute to a more even and luminous complexion.

The serum is enriched with sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) extract and Kakadu plum (Terminalia ferdinandiana) extract. These botanical ingredients provide antioxidant compounds that help protect the skin against oxidative stress and complement the formula's focus on dull, tired-looking skin. Green tea extract provides additional antioxidant and soothing support.

A combination of glycerin, betaine, trehalose and sodium hyaluronate helps attract and retain water within the upper layers of the skin. Panthenol further supports hydration and skin comfort, making the formula useful when uneven tone is accompanied by dehydration.

The ampoule also contains retinyl palmitate, a mild vitamin A ester, although at a very low concentration. I would therefore not consider this a retinoid treatment or rely on it for the effects expected from dedicated retinol or retinal products.
