How to use
  • Clean the affected area
  • Apply a patch on the pimple or wounded area.
  • Leave in place for approximately 6–8 hours, or replace it when the center becomes visibly white and swollen from absorbed fluid.
  • Do not use the same patch for longer than 24 hours.

The SKIN1004 Tea-Trica Spot Cover Patch is an ultra-thin hydrocolloid patch designed to cover, protect and absorb fluid from superficial blemishes while helping prevent touching and picking.

Each pack contains 22 patches in two different sizes, allowing you to choose the most appropriate size for individual blemishes.

Unlike many spot treatments, this is not primarily an active-ingredient acne treatment. Its effectiveness comes from the hydrocolloid technology itself.

How does a hydrocolloid patch work?

Hydrocolloid is an absorbent dressing material that interacts with fluid released from the skin.

When placed over a superficial pimple—particularly one that has already developed a visible whitehead or has opened—the patch can absorb exudate and create a protected, moist environment over the affected area.

As fluid is absorbed, the center of the patch gradually becomes white and swollen. This visible change is not the patch “pulling toxins” from the skin; it is primarily the hydrocolloid absorbing fluid.

At the same time, the patch creates a physical barrier between the blemish and your fingers, makeup and the external environment.

This may be particularly useful for people who tend to repeatedly touch or pick their pimples.

Ultra-Thin & Discreet

The patches are designed to be thin and semi-transparent, making them relatively discreet on the skin.

Their water-resistant adhesive design helps them remain in place during normal daily activities, and makeup can be applied over the patch if desired.

When does a pimple patch work best?

Hydrocolloid patches are most useful for superficial inflammatory pimples with visible fluid or whiteheads, as well as blemishes that have already opened.

They are less likely to make a significant difference to deep, closed comedones or cystic acne, because there is little or no surface fluid for the hydrocolloid to absorb.

Ideal For

Whiteheads, superficial inflammatory pimples and blemishes that have already opened or are releasing fluid.

They are particularly useful if you tend to touch, squeeze or pick blemishes, because the patch provides a simple physical barrier.

Pro Tips

  • They do not need dozens of active ingredients to be useful. For the right type of pimple, hydrocolloid can absorb fluid while simultaneously preventing repeated touching and picking—which is particularly important because mechanical manipulation can increase inflammation and the risk of post-inflammatory marks. However, a patch cannot “draw out” a deep cystic lesion sitting underneath intact skin. For deep, painful or recurrent acne, hydrocolloid patches are supportive care rather than acne treatment.
