How to use
- After serum, apply a small amount around the eye contour, concentrating on the under-eye area and orbital bone.
- Gently tap into the skin with your ring finger until absorbed. Follow with moisturizer if needed.

The Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Bakuchiol Eye Cream is a lightweight anti-aging eye cream formulated to address fine lines, dehydration, uneven pigmentation and loss of elasticity around the delicate eye area.
At the center of the formula is 0.5% bakuchiol (5,000 ppm). Bakuchiol is a plant-derived antioxidant that has gained considerable interest in anti-aging skincare because research suggests it can influence some of the cellular pathways involved in collagen metabolism and skin aging.
Bakuchiol is frequently described as a “natural retinol alternative,” but from a medical skincare perspective, I prefer to distinguish the two. Bakuchiol is not a retinoid, and the clinical evidence supporting retinoids remains substantially stronger. Nevertheless, 0.5% is a meaningful concentration of bakuchiol and makes this an interesting option for those looking for a gentler anti-aging active around the eye area.
The formula also contains niacinamide high in the ingredient list. This well-studied form of vitamin B3 supports epidermal barrier function and can help improve uneven pigmentation, making it particularly useful when the eye contour appears dull or uneven in tone.
Fermented black rice extract (2,000 ppm) provides antioxidant compounds, while fermented bamboo shoot extract, ginseng and vitamin-rich botanical extracts provide additional skin-conditioning and antioxidant support.
From a hydration perspective, glycerin and sodium hyaluronate help attract and retain water within the upper layers of the skin. Sunflower seed oil and caprylic/capric triglyceride provide emollient lipids that soften the skin and help reduce the dry, tight feeling that can make fine lines appear more pronounced.
Adenosine complements the anti-aging formulation with additional skin-smoothing properties, while madecassoside, a characteristic Centella asiatica compound, provides soothing and barrier-supportive care.

- l is often marketed as if it were simply a gentler version of retinol, but chemically it is a completely different molecule. The evidence for retinoids in photoaging remains considerably stronger. What I like about this formulation, however, is that it contains 0.5% bakuchiol—a concentration actually used in clinical research—rather than adding a trace amount simply for the ingredient name. Combined with niacinamide and a good moisturizing base, this makes it a sensible option for the delicate eye area, especially for people who do not tolerate retinoids well.
